Moxie Fab Lanterns

Okay, four posts in four days?! I think this is some type of record!

I've been wanting to participate in one of Cath's Tuesday Triggers for the longest time but for whatever reason just couldn't get it together prior to this week! I adore the lantern photo she chose and thought my new set from WMS was just the ticket!

The photo reminded me of an elegant evening outdoors so I thought I'd kick up the lanterns a notch by embossing them with gold and silver embossing powder. I cut them out, pierced a hole in each, and strung them on some gold twine. I attached each using a foam square in such a way that they'd look like they were swinging a bit in a light evening breeze. The blue cardstock I used for the background has a bit of a shimmer as well making this a very elegant card!

Supplies - Stamps - Asian Gardens/Additions (WMS), Cardstock - Papertrey Ink, Ink - Watermark (Versamark), Silver, Twine - Crafta, Foam Squares

My Hero

The theme of this month's project parade over at Verve is "My Hero" and I couldn't wait to get my new American Hero stamp set inky for this one!! I adore this set and had to have it the minute I saw it! I would definitely say I'm patriotic - I think the USA is a pretty special place and am blessed to call it home.

My card is inspired by my grandfather, Walt Gulden, who moved his young family from St. Paul, Minnesota to the wiley west coast here in San Francisco to serve at the Presidio during WWII. If it weren't for that move, I wouldn't call this wonderful city home! My husband and I even honored my heritage by tying the knot in the Presidio 3 1/2 years ago!

Thank you to all who do so much for the rest of us!!

Supplies: Stamps - American Hero (Verve), Cardstock - Night of Navy, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White (SU!), DP - Jellybean Soup, Ink - Night of Navy, Riding Hood Red (SU!), Ribbon - Etsy, Glitter - Martha Stewart, Die Cuts - Cuttlebug, Spellbinders Squares, Corner Chomper, Foam Squares

Two challenge cards two days in a row and I've got a third planned for tomorrow! Yes, I am on a crafty roll this week and am having a blast!!

This is the card I made for this week's WMS Sketch Challenge - I so desperately need thank you cards for all of the lovely gifts I received for my birthday a couple of weeks ago! I've sent most out now and only need three more. Phew!

I turned the sketch on it's side for this card and heat embossed the medallion image on some pretty patterned paper, punched the bottom edge of the card base and added a few rhinestones in place of the ribbons.
Supplies: Stamps - Victorian Fripperie (WMS), Cardstock - Blush Blossom, Old Olive (SU!), DP - Porcelain Collection (Basic Grey), Ink - Old Olive (SU!), Watermark (Versamark), Black Embossing Powder (SU!), Die Cuts - Cuttlebug, Spellbinders, Punch - Martha Stewart, Ribbon - Crafta, Rhinestones - Michael's, Foam Squares

Congratulations II

It has been quite a while since I've participated in many challenges and this week I'm determined to get back to the norm starting with Cinema Saturday! The movie of the week is Casino Royale and the challenge is to use a silhouette in our creations.

I love Daniel Craig as James Bond and thought this movie was great! I was actually inspired by his relationship with Vesper when I thought of this card - he loved her and he was actually going to quit the service so he could be with her (of course that was before he found out she had stolen his money!) I used a silhouette stamp of a bride and groom embossed with black embossing powder coupled with some pretty Basic Grey papers that reminded me of their holiday in Venice, and a luscious black, satin ribbon.

Supplies: Cardstock - Stamper's Select White (PTI), Basic Black (SU!), Stamp - Inkadinkado, DP - Bittersweet (Basic Grey), Ink - Watermark (Versamark), Die Cuts - Cuttlebug, Labels 10 (Spellbinders), Ribbon - my stash.

July Waltz with WMS!

Welcome to the July waltz!! It is an honor to participate in another exquisite showcase of the fabby creations everyone has come up with using Waltzingmouse Stamps!! If you've stumbled here by accident, head over to Claire's Blog (our head Moustress) to get started...

The theme this month is summer and we are to use blues and greens in any hue we choose! I knew immediately that I wanted to use Rescue Remedies to make a card for my wonderful friend, Beth. This sentiment has rung so true this past week for me and I treasure her friendship more than ever.

I found some great glittery papers in a DCWV stack, used a couple of punches, some glitter pens, and some pearls for the centers of the flowers. The only thing I'm not totally in love with is the thing that really wanted to be a bow when it grew up. My excuse - thick grosgrain ribbon is hard to tie in a pretty bow! ;)

Supplies: Stamps - Rescue Remedies (WMS), Cardstock - Certainly Celery, Whisper White (SU!), DP - Linen Closet (DCWV), Punches - Lace Scallop (SU!), Large Scallop (EK Success), Ink - Certainly Celery, Night of Navy (SU!), Aqua Mist (PTI), Ribbon (SU!), Pearls (Hero Arts)

Thank You Kindly

I needed a thank you card for my Mother in Law who sent me a wonderful birthday gift and thought I'd use this week's WMS Sketch Challenge as the basis. Yes, I did take a few liberties with both the orientation and the layout of the sketch but I'm pretty happy with the way it came out!

Life's thrown a couple of curve balls my way over the past week so it was nice to get back to stamping this afternoon. I finally feel a bit more myself today so it is onward and upward from here.

Supplies: Stamps - Fancy Phrases, Vintage Labels 10 (WMS), Cardstock - Aqua Mist (PTI), DP - Girl Friday (Cosmo Cricket), Ink - Aqua Mist, Melon Berry (PTI), Ribbon - Crafta, Button - vintage, eBay

Welcome Little Baby Bee

I made this card a while ago for the Embellish Magazine baby challenge - just never got it blogged about and entered. I adore my new Labels 10 dies and can't wait to give the WMS coordinating set a go with them.

Supplies - Stamps: Baby Button Bits (PTI), Ink: Chocolate Chip (SU!), DP - Garden Variety (Webster's Pages), Ribbon - Crafta, Buttons (PTI), Die Cuts: Cuttlebug, Labels 10, Glue Dots, Foam Squares

Good Luck

Back after a long hiatus but with good reason! I turned 40 on Wednesday!! 40?!? What?!? As I've told a number of folks over the past few days, the number doesn't bother me as much as it trips me out a bit. 40 just sounds so much more "mature" than I feel, lol. Anyway, back to the show...

This is probably one of my favorite cards I've made lately - look at how nicely the background lined up (and I am certainly not yet a background stamper!) I stamped the background image in Versamark and then used gold embossing powder; did the same with the "good luck" sentiment.

I used some gorgeous washi tape to cover the seam of the white panel, then fussy cut some stamped flowers to give some dimension above the branch. Love the way it turned out!!

Supplies - Stamps - Asian Gardens (WMS), Ginko Tape, Basic Black, Whisper White cardstock (SU!), Gold Embossing Powder (SU!), Ink - Versamark Watermark, Garden Green, Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink (SU!), Foam Squares
